Is Receding Gums Problem Age-Related?

What receding gum means is the loss of gum tissue and the accompanying exposure of the roots of teeth. It may also be called the recession of the gingiva. Receding gums can be a part of the natural process of aging and can occur in adults who have reached the age of 40. However, receding gums cannot be always related to age because teenagers may also start to have it. Once gum recession has started, it can hasten the decay of a healthy teeth. Causes of receding gums includes: overzealous brushing, misaligned teeth, excessive build up of plaque, genetic reasons and periodontal or gum disease. If you have detected that you have receding gums, it is best to seek treatments from a dentist to avoid discomfort and preserve healthy teeth and gums.
